On February 8th our sweet girl turned 1 month old! This winter has gone by so slow, but some how the time since her birth has gone fast. She has been happy, healthy, and growing since the day she was born.
Stats: At her 1 month appointment she weighed in at 10lbs 12oz and 22.5 inches long. The doctor has been really impressed with her consistent weight gain, reaching the 85th percentile every time she has been there. Victoria was almost 4 months old by the time she reached 10lbs, so having a chubby cutie is all new to us.
Feedings: Amelia has been eating really well, she is on exclusive breast milk from being either nursed or via a bottle. When she takes a bottle she will easily gulp down about 4 ounces each time. She is also a very efficient during nursing, which doesn’t take long at all. Over the past few days she has been showing signs of having reflux and her doctor is aware, but we want hold off on medicating her until we feel that it is absolutely necessary. Most feedings she is fine, but the evening feeding seem to be more of a problem for her, it could be the reflux mixed in with her “witching hour.” We are very familiar with the witching hour or hours around here.
Favorites: She loves her swing, rock n’ play, being swaddled with her arms outside the blanket, her binky, being held, having her bum patted and going for walks around the house. Her eyes are always locked in on ceiling fans, big pictures on the wall, or lights. She loves looking around and already has good neck strength. She doesn’t seem to mind her tummy time.
Sisterhood: I think she recognizes Victoria’s voice. She is always looking around for her and she enjoys laying on the play mat with her sister. Victoria has been somewhat of a helper (when the mood strikes her) offering to feed her a bottle or hold her or even give her a binky to “make the crying STOP!” Victoria likes to sing her songs and will sometimes even read her a story. The cutest thing she says…”Me and Mia are Best Friends, Mommy!”
Social: Amelia has met so many family and friends during her first month of life and is looking forward to meeting more soon (Uncle Eric, Uncle Dave, Aunt Jodie, Uncle Ben and her cousins!). Everyone has enjoyed snuggling with our sweet girl and we are so fortunate to have so many people in our lives that have prayed for this happy, healthy miracle baby.
Events: Amelia is not a huge fan of her baths, there is a 50/50 chance she will cry through the entire thing. She attended her first Super Bowl party (Broncos vs. Seahawks), went to a Mexican restaurant, the mall, a few play dates, library story time and slept through most of them.
Sleep: Amelia is sleeping anywhere from 3-5 hour stretches, her longest stretches have been at night (one time it was 6 HOURS!). She will usually go down around 10pm, up at 2:30-3am, and then up again around 7-8am. This is pretty awesome compared to our preemie that was up several times every night, so we will take it.
Things to look forward to during Month 2:
*Meeting her aunt, uncles & cousins
*Meeting more friends
*A week with grammy & Papa
*Victoria’s 3rd birthday party
*hopefully we can get a smile out of her before she turns 2 months, she is so close!
*naps in her crib
Sometimes she looks like the old man from the Disney movie Up, he is cute, so I don’t mind…ha
She will appreciate this comparison someday, right???
