Sesame Street Live!

It is no secret around these parts that we are a Sesame Street family.  And we have been for over a year, and still going strong…it will be a sad day when we move on to bigger things.  Do you remember the first time Victoria saw Sesame Street Live? She was only 11 months old, but we scored some FREE box seats, so we were there!  She wasn’t even walking yet, but enjoying watching the furry characters on stage and listening to the fun songs.

When we heard that Sesame Street Live! was coming again to Pittsburgh, I did not plan to purchase tickets, but if we won them or were invited to go, we would not turn it down.  Sure enough, my friend Steph (she kinda wins at everything) won 4 free tickets to the show.  We were lucky enough to be invited and BAM…before you knew it we had 2 toddlers in red tutus and Elmo shirts!

The girls were pretty much the stars of the entire place.  The only two adorable little girls in red tutus, the comments they  received were in the hundreds (well, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point)  We grabbed some souvenirs and programs and then we were off to our seats.  We got there early, I was nervous how V would do since she was mobile this year and I was solo parenting.  To my surprise, that little girl was glued as soon as the show started.  She named every single character 100x’s (this time it is not an exaggeration),  She even noticed when characters stepped off stage and was upset.  “Cookie, wheeeere aaaare ewww?” Poor Murray, he was not even in the show, but that didn’t stop V from asking “Murray, wheeere aaaare ewww?” many, many times (he is one of her favs)  Lily and V did their share of dancing to the music.  They were so good I forgot for a minute that they were 1 and 2 yrs old (and so did the dad that was sitting in front of us).

At the end of the show, when the characters were saying goodbye, V actually got upset.  She was “fake crying” (moms, you know the kind) but visibly upset that the show was over. “Bye Bye Elmo” Bye Bye Zoey” “Bye Bye __ (insert every character on stage).

Let it be known, this was the first event I took both the diaper bag and the fancy camera bag all while being a solo parent, and carrying souvenirs…I know blah, blah, blah, I only have one child, but it was a lot to carry and I was sweaty by the time we go to the car.  I do miss the convenience and size of my point and shoot camera, but the picture quality of my DSLR cannot compare, so it was worth it to have the extra baggage.

We had a great night, just the four of us girls and all of our furry friends.

Thank you Steph & Lily for inviting us to come with you!!  The next time I win something cool I will have to share :)
