(My all-time favorite picture from Christmas!)
We woke up to a very relaxed (everything is always very relaxed at mom’s house) Christmas Eve morning. V played with some of the Christmas gifts she had already received and Greg made a delicious breakfast for everyone (his specialty).
We have always spend Christmas Eve with my dad’s side of the family, 32 Christmas Eve’s with them, and this was the last one. Excited to start a new Christmas Eve tradition in PA this year!
We attend Christmas Eve mass at 4pm, the Children’s program, which means an hour and 45 minute service with a little girl who physically does not know how to sit still. I was nervous, but when my cousin said she would be on V duty during mass, I was relieved. I we attend a Polish cathedral church downtown, it is beautiful and huge and reminds me of Home Alone. You can actually feel the spirit of Christmas in the air when you are there, no joke.
After mass, my dad hosts his family at his home. We had pizza, wings, appetizers, and desserts. We don’t exchange gifts with cousins anymore, we stopped that a long time ago, but V sure was lucky. It was all eyes on her as she opened her gifts from cousins and her Uncle John.
Cousins!
I just loved watching her open gifts this year, every gift was so exciting it was hard to tell her favorite. It was rough being the star of the show for hours, and after everyone left V was not interested in opening her gift from grandpa. Thankfully it was only one gift, and after she rested on the gift for awhile she was ready to open it.
A Bounce House!
I will have a future post on just how much she loves her bounce house. I think I was more excited for this gift than V. I have been trying to find a cheap one on Craigslist for months, but scored a deal on Black Friday for this one.
We packed up the car and headed back to my mom’s for the night. Surprisingly, V did not fall asleep in the car. She must have known that there was no sleeping until we put out the cookies for Santa.
After she went to bed, I heard Santa busy at work. He was making so much noise assembling her gifts, I am surprised V didn’t wake up. Doesn’t Santa have elves for that kind of stuff?
Greg and I went to bed excited for V’s 2nd Christmas Day!
I love her tights! I also think that pic of her with your mom's fireplace is my fav of your Christmas pictures too.
ReplyDeleteSo weird to think of 32 Christmas Eve's in one place and that one being the last...
xoxox
I love that first picture!
ReplyDeleteAnd her laying on the table....so cute! We didn't get to make it to mass this year Breanna crashed before we could go...so hopefully next year!
She looks super cute in her Santa dress!
I love the first picture, too!
ReplyDeleteShe looked adorable in her Christmas dress. I'm glad you had a good time with your family. I'm sure it will be hard next year, but you'll be starting your own traditions!
